Cern has taken to coaching up his young son’s t-ball Little
League Baseball team. Cern breaks it down on what goes into it
that. T-Ball is very basic, stripped down, just teaching the
fundamentals. Throwing, hitting and catching. Cern’s dad related it
to “hearing a bunch of cats.” T-ball is ages 5, but it is a ton of
fun. Cern says that his son is pretty good for his age, but gets
distracted by all the bugs and critters out in the
grass.
Lots of the kids are just out there to run around and burn off
all that kid energy. In Northern California everyone wants to be
the Giants or the A’s.
Cern’s older son who is 10 year old and Cern has some
critiques of the coaching style, which is very reactionary.
Cern breaks down all the required equipment for Little
League. New standards require a new bat to be purchased because it
has a special sticker on it.
Cern got roasted on Facebook because his wife took a photo of
him comforting his son about striking out. Joe took the opportunity
to drop a killer line along the lines of “He sure has a lot of
experience with striking out.”
There is a lot of new rules when Chip and Cern were comparing
to when they were playing.
Some of the coaches are taking it way to seriously for the
kids being 10 years old or so.
Chip tells a story about watching the Little League down by
his house. Trick plays and bush league stuff that sometimes does
pay off, but then they celebrate about tricking a bunch of
preteens.
The umpires which are kids are very protected. Parents have to
sign a contract because if they get ejected they can’t come to
anymore games for the rest of the season.
